KINNIK SKY
Often referred to as a “younger Gladys Knight with a hint of Toni Braxton,” Kinnik Sky’s vibrant voice and fashionable style have made her a sought-after performer and host. Industry professionals who discovered her at the age of seven deemed the South Carolina native a gifted musical and acting child prodigy.
While best known as a Top 13 Finalist on FOX Network’s American Idol, Kinnik Sky has impressed audiences as a singer and theatrical performer in a multitude of national venues. Her limitless vocal range, innate acting ability and undeniable stage presence have been on display as a host of live and televised events and in appearances as a competitor in local and national pageants.
In her adopted hometown of Atlanta, Kinnik Sky is known as a rising star. The highly acclaimed shows Dream Girls and For Colored Girls are two highlights of hercredits and appearances in over twenty-five theatre productions. She has appeared in several recognized television series and feature films, while garnering more extensive roles in cutting edge independent films. Her phenomenal talent afforded the opportunity to serve as an American IdolInsider Spokeswoman for each of the final four episodes of Season 8 leading up to the finale. SONY Pictures hired Kinnik for a starring role in Trois 3: The Escort. Noted film director Robert Townsend cast Kinnik in the Playhouse 22 TV series on cable’s Black Family Channel.
Mega-movie producer, playwright and director, Tyler Perry asked her to join the traveling cast of Madea’s Class Reunion. She soared to new heights afterwards by getting rave reviews for performances on two extended theatre circuit tours with Broadway director Kenny Leon. Both tours with the Tony Award winning Leon (Tambourines to Glory and Flying West) were creative and financial successes. Tyler Perry called upon her again to appear in the TBS series House of Payne where she was described as a “scene stealer.” Robert Townsend didn’t allow Kinnik to slide under his radar either! He asked her to take a lead role in his Gospel Music Channel series Musical Theatre of Hope.
Since her recent move to Los Angeles California, Kinnik competed in and won the Catch the Dream/Dreamgirls competition sponsored by Blackweekly.com and the Ahmanson Theatre which her afforded her the opportunity to travel to and perform in Rome, Italy.
